2008-2009 Wind Ensemble Wind Ensemble provides opportunities for the most advanced student musicians to perform at the highest level in the brass, percussion, & woodwind families. The ensemble consistently performs professional level literature. The Wind Ensemble performs at school and community concerts as well as FBA regional and state band festivals. Extra rehearsals and performances are required as part of this course. Marching Band & Summer Band Camp are required for all Symphonic Band members. An audition is required as well. Students in the wind ensemble audition and participate in the Brevard All-County Band and Orchestra, the Florida All-State Bands and Orchestras, and the Florida State University Tri-State Bands.

Tuesday's after-school 3:30 - 5:30pm in the spring semester.
Symphony Orchestra The Viera Symphony Orchestra is designed for advanced string players. The Viera Symphony Orchestra performs professional symphonic and chamber literature at school and community concerts as well as FOA regional and state orchestra festivals. Extra rehearsals and performances are required as part of this course. An audition is required as well. The Symphony Orchestra rehearses most Wednesday's before school from 7:30 - 8:25am. Symphonic Band Symphonic Band provides opportunities for advanced student musicians to perform in a large concert band setting. The Symphonic Band performs at school and community concerts as well as FBA regional and state band festivals. Special emphasis is placed on large ensemble fundamentals and major and minor scales. Extra rehearsals and performances are required as part of this course. Marching Band & Summer Band Camp are required for all Symphonic Band members. An audition is required as well.

Concert Band Concert Band provides intermediate woodwind, brass, and percussion instruction in a class setting. Emphasis is placed on music fundamentals, technical, and listening skills. The Concert Band performs at school and community concerts as well as FBA regional and state band festivals. Extra rehearsals and performances are required as part of this course. Marching Band & Summer Band Camp are required for all Symphonic Band members. The Marching Band rehearses Tuesday's and Thursday's after-school 3:30pm - 6:00pm from August - October.
Concert Orchestra The Concert Orchestra is designed for students who have prior instruction on a string instrument. This intermediate level ensemble focuses on technical, listening, and musicianship skills need to be a better string player. This orchestra performs at school and community concerts as well as FOA regional and state orchestra festivals. Extra rehearsals and performances are required as part of this course.
Jazz Ensemble The Jazz Ensemble is designed for advanced wind and percussion players who are interested in learning advanced jazz literature. The Jazz Ensemble performs at school and community concerts as well as FBA regional and state band festivals. Students must be enrolled in another music class to be eligible for this course. Extra rehearsals and performances are required. An audition is required as well.
Jazz Band The Jazz Band is open current music student wishing to learn more about the jazz idiom. Students must be enrolled in another music class to be eligible for the Jazz Band. Jazz Band is available to students through an audition. Extra rehearsals and performances are required.
Chamber Winds The Chamber Winds course is designed for the most advanced wind and percussion students. Students will work on professional chamber winds literature, perform as a member of the VHS Symphony Orchestra, and work on individual music goals such as All-State and All-County Auditions and college auditions. Much of the Chamber Winds course is self-paced. Students must be enrolled in another music class to be eligible for the Chamber Winds course. Chamber Winds is available to students through an audition. Extra rehearsals and performances are required.
AP Music Theory For Seniors only - this Advanced Placement course is designed for advanced musicians who wish to learn more about how music is put together. Please see Mr. Bresette to speak about taking this course. A syllabus is available for review.
